Oral surgery is defined as any procedure that involves cutting into or removing tissue from the mouth. At Alexandra Park Dental, we perform a variety of oral surgeries as part of our holistic approach to dental care.
Please contact us to find out if you could benefit from oral surgery.
When a tooth is beyond repair or restoration, it must be extracted from the jawbone to prevent infection and further decay.
Once we have completed the extraction, we will work with you to create an individualized plan on how to preserve and protect the void left by the pulled tooth. Options may include a dental implant or partial denture.
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are typically the last set of teeth to come in. Because they emerge late, they can cause a variety of problems, including:
Sometimes, wisdom teeth will emerge without any problem. However, if they do cause an issue, our dental professionals may recommend extraction to address the problem. Tooth extractions are an outpatient procedure that we can perform here in our clinic in Leduc.
Often done to prepare the jaw for dental implants, bone grafting is a surgical procedure that involves taking a piece of bone from one part of the body and grafting it onto a different site. The newly grafted bone builds up the site, making it stronger and more robust.
At Alexandra Park Dental, it’s important to us that your experience is as comfortable and pain-free as possible. To help ensure your visit leaves you smiling, we offer several pain relief methods for our patients, including:
For most of our dental procedures, we use local anesthesia. Anesthetic is administered via injection to temporarily numb the surrounding area, minimizing or even preventing pain and discomfort.
If the thought of going to the dentist makes you anxious, you may want to talk to your dentist about conscious sedation.
Conscious sedation can be taken in tablet form or delivered using a breathing mask (in the case of nitrous oxide). We use only mild sedatives, which make you feel groggy or tired but aren’t heavy enough to put you to sleep. This means that most patients can relax enough to feel calm but remain coherent enough to follow basic directions.
You can find our office on the SW corner of 50th St. and 48th Ave, right across the street from Leduc Cinemas. We share a parking lot with the cinema and have additional parking next to our office. For your convenience, we are pleased to offer extended hours that include evenings and select weekends.
