At Alexandra Park Dental, we believe regular dental maintenance is vital for both good oral health and overall well-being. Professional dental care, as well as brushing and flossing, are essential practices for good oral health.
Preventative care in the form of regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays is critical to avoid troublesome and costly dental issues.
Using a combination of traditional techniques and modern technology, we’ll assess your oral health and keep your teeth and gums happy and healthy.

At Alexandra Park Dental, we love getting to know our patients so we can provide high-quality, personalized care with a smile.
If you’re new to our clinic, we’ll review your medical history and discuss any current medications, dental, or health concerns you may have. If you’re an ongoing patient, we’ll take a few minutes to catch up and make sure your records are up to date.
During your comprehensive exam, we’ll check the condition of your teeth, gums, and tongue for signs of decay, disease, or other issues. We’ll also assess your bite alignment and check the range of motion of your temporomandibular joint (TMJ). We also screen for oral cancer and look for any worn or damaged dental work.
Depending on how long it’s been since your last appointment, we may also take some x-rays to further inspect the health and structure of your mouth below the gumline.
Once we’ve completed your dental exam, we’ll review our findings with you and together, we’ll come up with a dental maintenance program to keep you on the path to good oral health. Depending on your unique needs, we may discuss restorative or cosmetic dental services.
To help keep your teeth and gums healthy and head off potential problems before they arise, we suggest going for an exam and cleaning at least once every 6 months. Regular examinations are the foundation of preventative care and allow us to thoroughly evaluate your dental health and look for any indicators of decay or disease so that these issues can be addressed as soon as possible.
Having your teeth professionally cleaned is about more than a bright smile – it’s an excellent way to prevent oral health problems such as cavities and gum disease.
Even if you follow the recommended dental daily regimen – flossing & brushing two times a day, for two to three minutes, professional cleanings are the only way to remove stuck-on plaque and tartar that remain even after a diligent and thorough brushing.
At your cleaning appointment, our hygienists will thoroughly clean your entire mouth, concentrating on areas that are hard to reach with a standard toothbrush and floss. We will discuss your at-home oral routine with you and any other concerns or questions you might have.
We recommend having dental cleanings at least twice per year. Aside from a regular dental exam, brushing and flossing are the most important things you can do for your dental health.
